Harry Potter craze, biking, climbing, and itchiness
The last few days have been - well, let’s just say, they could have been better. A horribly annoying rash broke up on my bum/groin, which prompted me to go to the doctor, get a cortisone shot, and get some Vanos - i.e. a $450 tube of steroid cream - prescribed. Thank goodness for my sweet insurance package with Pluck. The rash has mostly gotten better, at least in the area it started in, but I’ve found other spots popping up. Will this ever go away? I blame this on the bouldering and swimming trip we took to Rogers Park over two weeks ago. At one point we swam in this cove and, during my successful attempt to conquer a boulder and declaring it Ginny’s Rock, I climbed through and basically had to climb through/sit on this tree/shrub. It must have been that stupid plant.
So being stuck inside for most of the past five days, I spent a lot of time in front of ESPN and Youtube, thus catching up on all the Harry Potter hype that’s been happening for the movie’s release this week. Like with everything Harry Potter in the past, I am very excited about the movie and can’t wait to see how they adopted the pivotal book into film. Although, it’s not nearly the same level of excitement as when the 7th and final book came out. I am definitely a believer that the books are still much better, but the movies are still wonderful, and I’m still going to go see the flick at the Drafthouse at some point.
As for the rest of everything, I was biking most days to work (before the rash began), which was working out great. I’m still getting used to it and every so often I’ll freak out and almost fall off, but overall it’s been awesome, despite the heat. I’ve been climbing a lot also - almost obsessively - just last week I finished my first V2, although there are still many V0s and V1s that I still haven’t yet conquered. And lastly, ultimate is starting up again as well with practices twice a week. This weekend is my first tournament of the season, which will be interesting. I’m way out of shape still, and having sat on my butt (well, not really sat on butt, more like, laid on my back) most of the past week, we’ll see how it goes…
