Yesterday I made a sort-of impromptu trip to the climbing gym. We had gone on Friday, which was our planned last day at ARG for awhile as we’ll be heading to Virginia this weekend. However, at the very end of the session (i.e. right before we had to leave) I found this very cool V4+ overhanging problem in the cave that I managed to play on for two minutes, which was apparently enough to get me so excited about it that I couldn’t stop thinking about it and had to go back. Plus, all the cave problems at the south…
The ACL lineup was announced last night… check it out:

It’s pretty solid this year, definitely better than the past few years (the best since I’ve been in Austin probably) IMO. Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and Beastie Boys headlining with a slue of great names top to bottom. Outside of the Beastie Boys, the headliners aren’t the most exciting for me. Being from Charlottesville I know I should love DMB, but ironically growing up in a town that idolized him because he started out there kind of annoyed me. I may still try to check him out because I do…
So I know as of late my blogging has been… well, pathetic. I was doing well for awhile, but then it stopped. Maybe I was too busy. Maybe I was too lazy. Maybe I was too lame. In any case, I’m hoping to go back to my blogging ways. It’s not like you missed much, though. Really, my life has been pretty much the same as before, i.e. The Big Four: Music, Running, Ultimate, and Sports.
So music wise… per the usual, I’ve been to shows. Back in December I saw Iron and Wine (sold out awesomeness) and went to 101X’s…
For some reason, I can’t not go to shows. This past week was Hot Hot Heat, Dr. Dog, and Trail of Dead (plus two Halloween parties). Dr. Dog had been planned for awhile, and I was hoping that would be the only show of the week. Instead, three. 24 hours ago I was telling myself that I wouldn’t go to any shows this week since Fun Fun Fun Fest is next weekend. Now, more than likely I’m going to two (and hopefully just two) - Josh Ritter tomorrow, Shout Out Louds Friday. I preview people’s music, then feel like I…
I survived the weekend! Team Refresh kicked butt at the AIR competition (with the help of some Red Bulls - hardcore coding for 9 straight hours is pretty intense), and I’m all moved in to my new apartment. Still have unpacking and organizing to do, and some crucial shopping - i.e. food. I have none at the moment and will starve in 24 hours if I don’t do something about it soon. Even though I just moved within the same apartment complex, it was totally worth it - I don’t have to go over any speedbumps anymore to get to…
Yesterday I + a few co-workers + a few AIR team members gathered for happy hour festivities. We went to Mohawk’s Grizzly bar, which was dirt-cheap yet pretty dead, for a few hours before heading to the Jackalope for food and more drinks. It was guest-bartender-day (or whatever they call it) at the Grizzly bar, and guess who happened to be guest-bartending? The band members of What Made Milwaukee Famous. No, I didn’t go beserk. I just told them that I was going to their shows and that I was excited, to which they replied “well, we’re excited you’re going…
