I heart Spoon.

Posted April 22nd, 2009 in ,

Last night I saw Spoon at the Scoot Inn. It. was. awesome. Chill and I got there around 8pm, soon after the opener, Black Nasty, started playing. I found it interesting that during the opener, the crowd stood far back from the stage, leaving a ton of open space in the front (much like the Jo’s Coffee shows during SXSW ‘07, as documented briefly here). Right when they ended though, as expected, everyone pushed up front. We got a decent spot about six feet back from the center front of the stage, and throughout the entire show I somehow kept…

Finally! I’m back (for now)…

Hey everyone. I know it’s been awhile, that it’s funny that my last “real” post was over a year ago stating that I would blog more. Well, guess I was wrong! Sorry about that… although it’s not like you missed all that much, anyway. :)

So I just finished re-doing my entire site. I didn’t do a redesign, so if you didn’t notice much of a difference, that is why. Basically, the last version was entirely XSLT-driven (and I really mean entirely), with just a main page and the gallery. It was fun to code at the time, but I was…

Getting back into the blogging state of mind

Posted February 13th, 2008 in , , , , , ,

So I know as of late my blogging has been… well, pathetic. I was doing well for awhile, but then it stopped. Maybe I was too busy. Maybe I was too lazy. Maybe I was too lame. In any case, I’m hoping to go back to my blogging ways. It’s not like you missed much, though. Really, my life has been pretty much the same as before, i.e. The Big Four: Music, Running, Ultimate, and Sports.

So music wise… per the usual, I’ve been to shows. Back in December I saw Iron and Wine (sold out awesomeness) and went to 101X’s…

And it begins! Happy hour tonight, anyone?

So I decided I’m going to do something every day/night until Mexico to take advantage of my time off from work and celebrate my Statesman-Springbox transition. Last night’s Tegan & Sara show @ Stubb’s was the official kick-off to the festivities. Overall an enjoyable show, and it was the first time I showed up to Stubb’s BEFORE the headliner started (remember that Guster show fiasco? grrr).

Tonight is my farewell happy hour followed by Mute Math/Eisley at La Zona Rosa. The happy hour is starting at 219 West at ~6pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come join in. In fact,…

Farewell…. plus FFF wrap-up and the usual

Posted November 6th, 2007 in , , ,

Most of you know this by now, but this week is my last week at the Statesman. I’m moving on to Springbox, an interactive agency just down the street, for a very exciting opportunity. Today is my farewell lunch, and Thursday my farewell happy hour. Saying goodbyes is no fun and it’s been a great year + 3 months, but I’m really looking forward to this new beginning and stage.

I start at Springbox on the 20th, which means next week is a much-needed break. The first part will be catching up on sleep, the second will be traveling to Mexico…
