I really do love Spoon. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a non-workout-related post (or a music-related post), but when you see your favorite band play it’s hard to *not* write something about it. Last night’s show at the Mohawk was amazingly awesome, probably the best Spoon show I’ve seen to date. They sounded so good, and you could tell Britt Daniel was on. Plus, Ella and I got pretty close to the stage, and being close is always a plus!
First of all, let’s see how well my wish list did:

Last night I saw Spoon at the Scoot Inn. It. was. awesome. Chill and I got there around 8pm, soon after the opener, Black Nasty, started playing. I found it interesting that during the opener, the crowd stood far back from the stage, leaving a ton of open space in the front (much like the Jo’s Coffee shows during SXSW ‘07, as documented briefly here). Right when they ended though, as expected, everyone pushed up front. We got a decent spot about six feet back from the center front of the stage, and throughout the entire show I somehow kept…
Hey everyone. I know it’s been awhile, that it’s funny that my last “real” post was over a year ago stating that I would blog more. Well, guess I was wrong! Sorry about that… although it’s not like you missed all that much, anyway. :)
So I just finished re-doing my entire site. I didn’t do a redesign, so if you didn’t notice much of a difference, that is why. Basically, the last version was entirely XSLT-driven (and I really mean entirely), with just a main page and the gallery. It was fun to code at the time, but I was…
Apparently, Chicago is the place where my favorite bands like to play shows on New Years Eve. Four years ago, my first visit to Chicago and my first New Years outing outside of Virginia was highlighted by Guster playing a NYE show at the House of Blues. It was excellent. Guster was on stage when midnight hit.
Anyway, I just found out that Spoon is playing in Chicago on NYE this year. My first thoughts were to the awesome times I had four years ago, which naturally led me to think… “I could go… again!” Spoon on New Years Eve would…
