Mexico, Thanksgiving

Posted November 22nd, 2007 in , , , , ,

The past week or so has been pretty surreal. I sat around for a few days and did nothing, and then I went to Mexico. I get back and start a new job, but my first week is only two days long. Now it’s Thanksgiving. First of all, how in the world is it already Thanksgiving? That means December is on the horizon, which means the holidays, Christmas, yada yada. I swear, time if flying by way too fast.

The trip to Mexico was awesome. I already want to go back. I got to see ruins and pyramids, and I met…

Nothing, absolutely nothing!

Posted November 15th, 2007 in , ,

Last night I went to see Architecture in Helsinki. I got to Emo’s past 10pm, and it was there and then that I encountered another human being for the first time that entire day.

The past three days have been pretty uneventful. I’ve done nothing during the days. Literally nothing. I’d get up at 12 or 1pm, eat, do nothing for a couple of hours, watch a lot of The Office or 24, eat more, do more nothing, watch some movies, take a nap or two… OK, I went to the gym (apartment complex gym, that is) a couple of times.…

New Years Eve in Chicago?

Posted October 12th, 2007 in , ,

Apparently, Chicago is the place where my favorite bands like to play shows on New Years Eve. Four years ago, my first visit to Chicago and my first New Years outing outside of Virginia was highlighted by Guster playing a NYE show at the House of Blues. It was excellent. Guster was on stage when midnight hit.

Anyway, I just found out that Spoon is playing in Chicago on NYE this year. My first thoughts were to the awesome times I had four years ago, which naturally led me to think… “I could go… again!” Spoon on New Years Eve would…

LAX = freakin’ zoo

Posted August 1st, 2007 in

I got back to good ol’ Texas today. I got less than two hours of sleep last night. LAX-AUS flight was at 7:25am in the morning, and we opted to not get a hotel last night. It was a good move. LAX is a CRAZY airport. We got there at 1:30am (after spending the evening drinking bubble tea, eating crepes and cream puffs, and watching a late showing of Knocked Up), and slept for about an hour or so in the international terminal (where they had food 24/7). When we went back to the domestic terminal at 4am, it was…

Java training and Cali fun

Posted July 24th, 2007 in , ,

Dude, I’m totally blogging from Java training class. No, I’m not slacking… there’s just a bit of downtime. Really.

Last night was the Giants game at the AT&T Park, right on the San Francisco Bay. It was my first major league game! It’s too bad that Bonds didn’t homer and that I didn’t eat a hot dog, but it was still a pretty awesome experience nonetheless. The views of the water and just getting to see the park and the area around it were cool. We had planned on taking the CalTrain up to the city from San Jose, but my…

California!

Posted July 22nd, 2007 in ,

I’m in California! Than and I got here Friday night. We flew into LAX, picked up our rental car (waited in line for a really long time - annoying!), drove up the 101, and ended up staying in Ventura that night.

Yesterday we drove through Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo before getting on the 1 (aka the Pacific Coast Highway). I hadn’t made that drive before, and I after doing it I have to agree with everyone: it IS one of the most beautiful drives one could make. The coastline is absolutely gorgeous, and of course there’s Big Sur. We…
