Too bad UVA is horrible! Right now we’re losing our season opener to Wyoming (Wyoming?!?) 13-3 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Sure, it’s a road game, but still… the stats are utterly embarrassing! We’ve had three first downs for the entire game so far (compared to WYO’s 23). That’s ONE per quarter. 67 total yards (6 yds rushing! WTF!) vs. WYO’s 348. So very pathetic. With those stats, it’s amazing we even scored! The only thing we have going for us is that WYO has more turnovers… not that we convert on them anyway. And you wonder why…
So today is supposedly the day us UVA fans find out if we can expect another thrilling year of UVA-and-Singletary basketball for 2007-08. Apparently, Sean is now driving back to VA to tell coach Leitao of his decision before announcing. Argh, it’s like every minute of waiting is shortening my life. I keep refreshing TheSabre and news sites. I’ve even thought about sending him a message on Facebook (completely utterly ridiculous idea, thank goodness I didn’t do it). I do understand that it’s a really tough decision though, and for that I applaud that he has taken his time. I…
Yesterday I was catching up with Haresh, a fellow sports nut and friend from the UVA undergrad years, when he mentioned that Sean Singletary had declared for the NBA draft.
Now, there are two shocking parts to this tidbit of information. First, the obvious: our best player - the superstar, the 1st-team-All-ACC-er, the All-American - declaring for the draft and possibly not coming back for his senior season? Why oh why? Who’s going to be our go-to guy? Who’s going to alleyoop to Diane or Joseph? Who’s going to put the rest of the ACC guards to sleep? I should just start…
Last night, the UVA men’s basketball team beat Virginia Tech to clinch a tie for the ACC regular season title. If they beat Wake Forest (on the road) this Saturday, they will claim the title outright.
Does anyone else think that this is TOTALLY INSANE? I mean, even at the halfway point through the season we’d already exceeded our expectations. I knew it was already going to be a good year. But to have a chance at the regular season title? Where in the world did this come from???
In my opinion, last night’s game was probably the biggest game UVA has…
The UVA men’s basketball team just upset the No. 10 Arizona Wildcats in the newly-built JPJ, 93-90. It was the season opener and the ingaugural regular season game for the JPJ. Sean Singletary (ACC POY this year! Yeah, maybe…) and Mamadi Diane both had 25 points, and Jason Cain got a double-double. What a way to open up a new arena, eh?
Man, what a high scoring, exciting game. Too bad I missed out on it, and the new arena too! I really have to try to get to a game when I visit home.
